You only have to plug the player into your computer when you want to burn the record into an mp3. You can use the player for your LPs without using the computer.

It works just like any other record player. Put a record on the table and it plays through the speakers. :) It has excellent sound quality as well!

Question

Does "portable" mean that it has a battery source?

Would this be something I could take outdoors to listen to? Or does "portable" only mean that's it's easier to move?
In other words, does this have a battery source, or does it only worked when plugged into the wall?

The AC Adapter plug is US so you will need to get an adapter. Currently, UO does not carry US to UK adapters.

Question

How do I get a good sound from the vinyl?

I've tried to plug in my iPod to see if the speakers weren't working well, but the sound was better than expected. The problem begins when I try to play my records, it's very unclear and a lot of extra noises. I can barely hear the lyrics or the melody for that matter.
What may have gone wrong?

Try adjusting the tone. If that doesn't work, make sure that your suspension screws are properly tightened so you're not getting too much wobble. Also, make sure there's nothing wrong with the needle.

Understand though that vinyl will never have a cd quality sound. I've noticed in my small collection that some vinyls sound great (i.e., the xx) and others have a bit more muffled old-school vinyl sound. I don't know enough about record engineering to say if that's intentional or not.

If someone you know owns the same turntable and is getting better sound that what is coming out of yours, there just may be an issue. I know I have a different Crosley and the same records that sound great on this one sound muffled, like they are being played through a tunnel, on the other one.

It plug into speakers and has a headphone jack, not sure how your stereo plugs in exactly but it has left and right line out jacks to plug into as well as the headphone jack.
