They are sturdy - you'll just want to make sure that you choose the proper hardware when installing these.
I wonder, however, given the shape/length of these if they would work well for hanging towels, coats, etc. They jut out about 3+ inches, so they have worked well for hanging things like purses, scarves, and holding back curtains.
