answer 3
No, the legs are inside the sofa. How, you ask? It's really a cool design process: the bottom of the sofa has a secret zippered compartment that contains the two arms, the two "tube pillows" and the four legs. Thus, the box is as flat as the thickness of the seat cushion, since it ships in the "bed position". Then you just unzip the secret compartment, take out the parts, screw them on and voila, you're done. Note: One of our legs had a slight issue with the screw-in part, and while it was still usable, UO sent me a replacement leg free of charge to have as a backup. Great cust. service.

The legs are not attached. It comes in a package that's probably less than 12" wide...you would definitely be able to get this up a narrow staircase.

For mine, the legs were in this secret compartment in the body of the couch. Sounds crazy, but it fit through my super-narrow hallway

Question

How does the back of this sofa look?

I am not exaggerating whatsoever when I say it is an awful looking back. The bottom of the sofa and its arms stick out when the sofa is upright (for sitting) and it creates a very awkward looking shelf at the bottom of the sofa. I attempted to correct this by placing a console table behind it with a lower shelf and it seems to do the trick.

answer 2
Great! There is a small ledge in the back, to accomodate the fold-down feature, which is about 8" wide. Our cat loves to perch on this ledge since the sofa is against the wall in our place. But I would have no problems bringing it out away from the wall in a loft-style apartment as well. When you see it from the back, you can tell it folds down, but if that doesn't bother you than it looks fine.

The back isn't great, you can see the rod from one side to another and it isn't covered. We kind of drape things over it because we have it in the middle of a room.

Is it more of a blue-gray? Or a charcoal? Thanks!

It's definitely more of a charcoal. What you see in the picture is what you get. Out of an abundance of caution you might compare the photos on other computer screens.

It seems more charcoal to me, but I admit I was surprised at how many white threads were in the design too.

It's more of a black and white threaded look when you are near it, it only looks gray when you are standing far away.

It seems like a super twin to me, if there is such a thing. Definitely not full or queen, but my wife and i (she's 5'6", i'm 5'9", medium build) have no problem laying side-by-side and looking up through our skylight in the living room. Hope this helps! ;)

Question

does it have springs inside?

the reviews about newspaper-like noise when sitting on the couch make me wonder if there are springs inside (which I would be very happy about).

Question

Is there a zipper to remove at least the seat cushion if i want to replace?

I want this couch but more so I want to be able to re-stuff it if the assumingly cheap foam/cushions start to sag or flatten. Are there any zippers anywhere?

No zippers. Also no way this thing could survive long enough to be reupholstered. It's so gorgeous but the manufacturing is truly awful. I doubt the arms or legs or click-back would last a year. I'm sure the fabric is just stapled on. Best choice is to buy this beauty and then not allow yourself or anyone else to use it. Then you'll look like you have an expensive sofa forever. It really is beautiful. :-)

It is actually wood. The legs come painted and weren't boxed up too carefully, so they did have a couple of dings, but it's not noticeable when they're on the sofa.

Question

Sofa Shipping

How do you arrange for delivery? Does the delivery service bring it up to your apartment? Can you have it shipped to the store and pick it up there?

Thanks!

You have to have it delivered to your apartment, you can't have it shipped to the store. When I have mine delivered, it took about 5 weeks, and I got a call when it was a couple of days out so that I would have notice for when it was going to arrive. They gave me a ball park range of about 5 hours on a specific day and ended up getting their pretty early, about 8 AM. They were nice enough to carry it up the stairs for me, but I'm not sure if that is protocol, or just nice deliverymen.

The trucking company in your area will call you when the couch is ready to be delivered and schedule a time. They brought it right into my 2nd floor apartment.

Question

What is the actual width of the sofa?

I noticed that the dimensions claim to be 84" as a sofa and 74" when it's a bed -- how is this possible? Is the sofa actually 84" or 74" wide?

It's because when they measure the sofa dimensions, they include the arms because you use them as part of the sofa. When you're using the bed function, you can't use the arms so it subtracts 5" from either side, since that's how wide the arms are. :)
