Not water "proof" as your stuff would get wrecked if it fell in a lake or something, but it is decently water "resistant" the material gets wet, and i wouldn't set it in a puddle, but in can be in the rain for a couple hours before your stuff will get wet

Well I've had it for a few weeks in drizzly/rainy spring weather and am pleasantly surprised that it does in fact keep your belongings quite dry. I think this is due to the canvas material and some polyester type of lining on the inside. Although since it has a duffle bag like mechanism to close under the flap, I'm sure if it got submerged fully underwater your stuff would get wet.

Does the black one have the magnet buckle? or is it the version where u have to strap it in with the pin/hole?
the blue one seems to be the newer magnet buckle for faster access, the black doesnt seem to be the same

How long before it begins to weather?
I just bought this backpack and I’m waiting for it to ship in since it was all sold out at the local mall and I really like the design/style but I didn’t have the privilege of actually feeling the product myself. I’m just looking for some insight on the subject. P.S. (mainly use for hs)

with regular use I'd say 1 year before it starts to wear out, and by 2 years the drawstring is almost broken and it starts to get decent sized holes

This pack is really durable. I think it'll hold up just fine. If you want it to look aged, i'd recommend either distressing it yourself (if you're impatient) or just letting nature work its magic!
